This last Sunday, a lady in my church gave me a blue card with some questions on it regarding tithing. Since my email to her was rather long-winded, I thought I would share some of those thoughts here.
Deuteronomy 26:2-15 Verse 2 says to take “some” of the firstfruits. [...]
Colossians 4:5 says this:
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
As a pastor who’s got a blog, I’ve been thinking about how this verse relates to blogging. I’ve been blogging for over a year, and I don’t yet have a “manifesto” like this guy on what [...]
This week at my Life Group, we looked at the clearest teaching in the Bible regarding the rapture, and I’ve become even more convicted about one particular position. This post is intended to guide you through the same study we considered this week and to give an inside track on what I’m currently thinking about [...]
Yesterday was Mother’s Day 2005, and I preached a message on three women in the beginning of the gospel of Luke—Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna. While I was preparing for the message; though, God helped me to understand something that I had never really seen before. There are no unplanned pregnancies.
This was a profound thought to [...]
What’s wrong with premarital sex?
One of the questions I get a lot is the question about sexual morality as it relates to the Bible, and it’s one I have thought a lot about as well considering that I do quite a bit of marital counseling and also considering that I’m a guy and I think [...]
Get physically fit in just 20 minutes a day? Well, get spiritually fit in only SEVEN!
James 1:2-3 gives the standard Christian answer to this question:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance…
Of course, knowing the Sunday school answer and being okay with it are two different things entirely, but this week, I [...]
I read this article recently where the author is talking about how to make users of your product or service happy. The basic premise of the article is that you should make the right things easy and the wrong things hard.
A great illustration of this is a three pronged electrical plug. There is only one way that the plug can go [...]
My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.—Psalm 62:7
I was reading Psalm 62 this morning for my quiet time, and this verse popped out to me. Reading it sparked a little “wow” moment somewhere inside me.
Everything about this verse is almost cliche to me. Sure, my salvation depends [...]
I believe in God because the universe needs a creator.
The first reason I have for my own belief in God is that the universe needs a creator.
WARNING: I have a degree in philosophy and some of the concepts I use for my belief in God require the use of some technical terms. Here’s a quick [...]
This is crazy. My mom purchased a bedroom set for me as a wedding gift, and paid them over 50% upfront and when we came in to pay the remaining balance and schedule a delivery date, they told us that it had been discontinued and that they had a big sale and sold the floor sample to someone as well.
This was the only one I had wanted and I had my heart set on this exact set. Now, the refuse to refund our money and on top of that will only allow us to pick out something else within the store if we first, PAY THE ENTIRE AMOUNT OF THE ORIGINAL INVOICE FOR ITEMS THAT WE WILL NEVER RECEIVE, AND SECONDLY, ONLY IF THE ITEMS WE CHOOSE ARE EXACTLY EQUAL OR GREATER IN COST OF THE ORIGINAL INVOICE!
Why should they not refund our money? Or at the least, allow us to apply the money we have already invested towards something else in the store? They actual expect us to honor our comittment and pay the entire invoice, even though the furniture we selected has been discontinued and is unavailable!!!

“If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife."
Thankfully none of the women I've seduced are virgins! ;)
You should of contacted your CC company and filed a fraud complaint against the merchant. This may be a typical "trick" they use to get more money out of people. No need to spend more money, you send a copy of the contract to the CC company and they investigate for free. If they feel you were wronged they credit it back and they just deduct it from the merchant.

Greetings, interesting article. There are a few people who would disagree with you, for starters take Johm MacArthur. He recently opened up his 40 year vault of messages free to the public. He has 100s of messages devoted to the 5 points of Calvinism, which he strongly supports. He also has many messages on a pre-trib rapture, which he also supports. Boice, Barnhouse, Lutzer, etc. are just a few of the well known preachers who are 5 point and pre-trib. S. Lewis Johnson, considered by some the greatest exposito of the 20th century, was also Calvinistic and believed in the rapture. So, there are a few men who have studied the scriptures far more than you and I who came to a different conclusion.
